we would like to introduce you to the debut English issue of our sister-magazine Paperazzo. Each issue features several new and different paper samples, printing and finishing techniques as well as articles explaining the production process and other interesting articles on unusual paper and print products. By clicking on the cover on the left you will be redirected to our website where you can see some of the articles in the new issue. Paperazzo was launched in 2009, and awards an annual prize, the Haptic Award. The deadline for entering products is on June 1, and the award ceremony will be during the Frankfurt Book Fair, on October 10th, 2013. More on www.paperazzo.de. Holmen: Restructuring at Braviken paper mill, Sweden


Holmen Paper intends to cease production on PM 51 at Braviken Paper Mill outside Norrköping, Sweden during the third quarter of 2013. The mill’s product mix will be improved when the proportion of newsprint shrinks by 200 000 t. At the same time, staff will be cut by 180 persons.

Södra Cell: Ceasing efforts to sell Tofte mill in Norway


Södra is now ceasing efforts to sell Södra Cell Tofte due to the fact that the bids received are too low. This decision will now be reported to the county. If no solution is found during the month-long qualifying period, the company plans to stop production on 1st of May.

Ilim Group: Rebuilding recovery boiler at Koryazhma mill

The Koryazhma mill of OJSC Ilim Group, located in Arkhangelsk region, Russia, is implementing an investment project to rebuild recovery boiler No. 6 at the thermal power station.

Smurfit Kappa: Supplier award from Coca-Cola Hellenic

Smurfit Kappa St. Peterburg was awarded in the Added Value category, at the Coca-Cola Hellenic Supplier Awards, held in Moscow earlier this month. Smurfit Kappa received the award for its consistent service as a supplier.

BillerudKorsnäs issues SEK 1,500 million in bonds

BillerudKorsnäs has successfully issued bonds totaling SEK 1,500 million (EUR almost 180 million). The bonds have a maturity of five years and fall due on 27 March 2018.

ABB: Order for a new paper quality control system

has won an order for upgrading the paper quality control system of the production line LWC4 at the SCA Ortviken paper mill in Sweden. The project scope includes a number of new functions and measurement scanners for the paper quality control process as well as integration of the new functions in the existing operator environment.

The latest conference program of the ZELLCHEMING EXPO in Wiesbaden from June 12 to 14, 2013, has been released. The well established lecture forum expands its spectrum of subjects with the slogan “Fibers in Process” and extends its offers for new target groups of exhibitors and visitors.

SCA: Divestment of Laakirchen mill closed

SCA has now completed the previously announced divestment of the Laakirchen mill in Austria. The Laakirchen mill, producing magazine paper, was sold to Heinzel Group. The closing follows clearance by relevant competition authorities.

Metso: Biomass power plant for Vimmerby Energi & Miljö, Sweden

Metso will supply Vimmerby Energi & Miljö AB (VEMAB) with a biomass-fired power plant for combined heat and power production at Tallholmen in the city of Vimmerby, Sweden. The new plant will secure supply of competitive district heating for the city and lower its CO2 emissions.
