Major investment in Mörrum
Tthe Board of Directors of Södra decided to invest SEK 1 billion in the pulp mill at Mörrum. The investment is the second stage of a long-term initiative at Södra Cell Mörrum, and will increase the mill's capacity by 45,000 tonnes. › more |

ABB to power the world’s most energy-efficient pulp mill
The first mill to operate fully free from fossil fuels will increase the share of renewable energy in Finland by more than two percent. It will also generate twice as much power as it consumes. 4th Darmstadt Paper Chemistry Colloquium
On May 20th, 2016 the 4th Darmstadt Paper Chemistry Colloquium is going to take place. This conference is aiming to be recognized as a platform for new developments and thought-provoking impulses on the chemistry of paper. Comet Biorefining To Build First Commercial Biomass Sugar Plant In Sarnia, Ontario
Comet Biorefining, Inc. has announced the location of its commercial-scale biomass-derived sugar facility in the TransAlta Energy Park in Sarnia, Ontario. The 60 million pounds per year plant will come online in 2018 producing dextrose sugar from locally-sourced corn stover and wheat straw. Corn stover consists of residues left in the field after harvest including stalks, leaves, husks and cobs. › more |

Finnish SME’s are boosting the development of new fibre products with VTT and Lahti University of Applied Sciences
VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd and Lahti University of Applied Sciences will develop optimised product properties for fibre products and biocomposites that have been manufactured using a foam-forming technology. The objective of the NoMa project that started in the autumn is to create new business for those small and medium-sized enterprises involved in the project.
