Holmen appoints Stina Sandell Director of Sustainability and Communications

“Holmen has a long history of working actively on sustainability issues. Andritz to supply the first complete front-end system for production of insulating materials to Norway

Andritz has received an order from Hunton Fiber AS to supply chip handling, pressurized refining equipment, and the chemical dosing system for its insulation production line at the mill in Gjørvik, Norway. The new plant will be built on a greenfield site 5km from the existing plant. Furthermore, the new production facilities will be powered by clean and environmentally friendly hydropower from Norway. Start-up is scheduled for May 2018.

Miroslaw Pietraszek appointed as president of PMP

PMP (Paper Machinery Producer) – a global provider of tissue, paper and board technologies for the Pulp & Paper industry as well as solutions for other heavy industries, today announced that it has appointed Miroslaw Pietraszek as President effective April 28th, 2017. Zbigniew Manugiewicz, PMP’s co-founder and former President, will continue to serve as a member of PMP’s supervisory board of directors.

Peter Oswald reinforces focus on growing packaging business as new Mondi Group CEO

Mondi hosted a press conference on 5 May at the interpack 2017 trade fair in Düsseldorf at which trends in the packaging industry and the focus on growing its packaging business were discussed.

Lars P. S. Sperre appointed as interim President and CEO

The board of directors has unanimously appointed Lars P. S. Sperre as interim President and CEO of Norske Skogindustrier ASA with immediate effect. Sperre has been employed by Norske Skogindustrier ASA since 2006 and been member of the corporate management team since 2014. Prior to this appointment, Sperre acted as Senior Vice President Corporate Strategy & Legal.

Valmet to upgrade evaporator train at BillerudKorsnäs Gruvön

Valmet will supply an upgrade of the evaporation plant at BillerudKorsnäs Gruvön pulp and paper mill in Sweden. The evaporation plant in a mill concentrates black liquor from the pulp cooking process. The installation of the new equipment is scheduled for spring 2018.

Ilkka Hämälä appointed President and CEO of Metsä Group

Metsäliitto Cooperative’s Supervisory Board has in its meeting on 4 May 2017 appointed M.Sc (Engineering) Ilkka Hämälä the CEO of Metsäliitto Cooperative as of 1 January 2018. Hämälä starts as the President and CEO of Metsä Group on 1 April 2018. Kari Jordan, the President and CEO since 2006, is responsible for Metsä Group’s result until the end of 2017 and will retire on 1 April 2018.

Xerium Awarded Machine Clothing and Rolls Business

Xerium Technologies announced that the Company was recently awarded orders for machine clothing and rolls technology for Fibria’s new pulp machine at the Tres Lagoas mill in Brazil. The new machine is scheduled to go online in Q3/2017, adding 1.95 million tons of market pulp to Fibria’s annual production.

Andritz starts up 12th tissue machine for Hengan Group

The PrimeLineTM W8 tissue machine is the twelfth tissue machine supplied by ANDRITZ to the Hengan Group, at its Chongqing mill. It has a design speed of 2,000 m/min and a width of 5.6 m. The machine is equipped with an 18-foot steel Yankee for energy-efficient drying and safe operation.

Bertram Staudenmaier will leave Voith end of this year

After thirteen successful years at Voith, Bertram Staudenmaier, Chairman of the Management Board of Voith Paper and Member of the Corporate Board of Management, has decided to look for new challenges outside the company. He will therefore not be extending his contract, which terminates at the end of this year.

Cellwood to upgrade deinking line for Bio Pappel

Cellwood Machinery AB was awarded a contract from Bio Pappel Printing S.A. de C.V. The contract is for replacing 2 existing kneaders with a Krima Ultra Compact Dispersing unit. Main goal is quality improvements as well as energy savings.

Revolutionary Fresh Fiber Product „Grass paper by Scheufelen” Lenningen

Grass paper, the newest product from Scheufelen and our contribution to the UN Agenda 2030, will again revolutionize paper production. Scheufelen grass paper is made with 50 % fresh fibers from sun dried grass. Different than other globally available fresh fiber pulps this material is produced locally around the paper factory in the Bio Sphere Region Schwäbische Alb from perennial grass plants.
