Valmet to supply three moisturizer systems to SCG Packaging in Thailand

Valmet will supply three Valmet IQ Moisturizer systems to Siam Kraft Industry Co., Ltd and Thai Cane Paper Public Co., Ltd. Both companies are under SCG Packaging in Thailand. Three moisturizers with moisture CD control will be installed at PM6 and PM7 at Wangsala mill and PM11 at Prachinburi mill. With the new solution, the mills will be able to improve the board quality on paper machines.

Stora Enso inaugurates its new polyethylene coating plant at Beihai Mill in China

Stora Enso has invested EUR 31 million in the PE coating plant, following its establishment in the Guangxi region in China as a response to increasing demand on the market. The plant has an annual capacity of 80 000 tonnes of PE coated products. PE coated board is suitable for products that require barrier against moisture, such as paper cups and food service packaging.

SCA invest in increased production of White-top kraftliner in Munksund papermill

SCA invests 19.7 million Euro in increased production of White-top kraftliner, packaging paper with a white surface, in the Munksund papermill in Piteå. Through this investment, the mill’s capacity to produce white kraftliner will increase from 150,000 tons to 200,000 tons per annum.

Arctic Paper to expand capacity at its paper mill in Kostrzyn

The Management Board and Supervisory Board of Arctic Paper S.A. have adopted a decision to launch an investment project at Arctic Paper Kostrzyn with the aim of expanding the capacity at the mill. The investment, estimated at EUR 10m, will be financed with funds from tranche B of the investment loan from the EBRD. Completion of the project is planned for the first half of 2019.

Kolb intends to buy chemicals firm in Netherlands

KLK announced that its wholly owned subsidiary Kolb Distribution AG had on December 11 entered into an agreement with Elementis plc to acquire Elementis Specialties Netherlands (ESN), located in Delden, the Netherlands. Completion of the sale, which is subject to completion of employee consultation processes, receipt of regulatory clearances and other customary closing conditions, is expected in the first half 2018.

Sappi confirms expansion plans for dissolving wood pulp capacity

Sappi has confirmed plans and ongoing projects to significantly increase DWP capacity by 2020. In particular, Sappi has started preparatory work for the potential expansion of its Saiccor DWP Mill to ensure that the company would be in a position to increase the mill’s capacity by up to 250,000tpa to meet strong projected demand growth.

Launch of sales process for Norske Skog AS

Norske Skog AS has appointed Evercore Partners International LLP to act as its financial adviser in connection with a sale of Norske Skog AS and its subsidiaries (the Norske Skog group’s operating businesses) by way of a competitive sale process which will commence imminently. A range of bidders will be invited to participate in the competitive sale process.

WestRock Announces Agreements to Acquire Plymouth Packaging

WestRock Company announced that it has entered into agreements to acquire substantially all of the assets of Plymouth Packaging, Inc. (“Plymouth”). Plymouth is a corrugated packaging company that derives approximately 70% of its sales from its “Box on Demand” systems and corrugated fanfold, and 30% from traditional corrugated box packaging.

Valmet to supply OptiConcept M containerboard making line for Shanying International in China

Valmet will supply an OptiConcept M containerboard making line for Shanying International Holdings Co., Ltd., in the city of Jingzhou in Hubei province, China. New production line (PM 21) with a wide automation package is designed to produce high-quality testliner grades. By increasing its production capacity, Shanying is aiming for bigger market shares. The start-up of the machine is scheduled for end of the year 2018.

Amdritz to supply a new stock preparation line and paper machine approach system for Varaka, Turkey

Andritz has received an order from the Turkish Albayrak Group to deliver a new stock preparation line with a design capacity of 1,000 bdmt/d for its Varaka paper mill in Balikesir, Western Turkey. Andritz will also supply the main components in the approach flow systems for the top layer of PM 2. Start-up is scheduled for summer 2018.

Disinfectant Wipes with Viscose: Kelheim Fibres sets Quats free

With the newly developed viscose fibre speciality Danufil® QR, Kelheim Fibres has mastered a challenge in the area of disinfection wipes. So far, the use of viscose fibres in these antiseptic wipes has posed a significant problem in spite of their excellent fluid handling properties: the fibres bind certain disinfectant substances which severely interferes with the wipes‘ function.
