GAW: The great Model Group Eilenburg conversion project

Model Group in Eilenburg put an impressive conversion project successfully into operation at the beginning of September this year. In over 14 months of work, the existing newsprint production line was transformed into one of the world's most advanced corrugated cardboard base paper machines, which will produce over 600,000 tons of packaging paper per year after the production start-up curve has been completed.

Mondi announces closure of Stambolijski paper mill following fire

Following the fire at Mondi’s Stambolijski mill (Bulgaria) on Tuesday 24 September 2024, the Group has announced that it will permanently close the mill. The fire caused extensive damage to the 100,000 tonne per annum brown kraft paper machine and stopped production at the site. Thanks to the swift and professional response on the day, everyone on site remained safe.

Toscotec to supply a turnkey tissue line to Intertrade Hellas in Greece

Toscotec will supply an Ahead 2.2L tissue line on a turnkey basis to Intertrade Hellas at its Oyinofita mill, near Athens in Greece. The start-up is planned for 2026. The new Ahead 2.2L machine features a net sheet width of 5,600 mm, a maximum operating speed of 2,200 m/min, and a production capacity of over 80,000 tons/year. It is equipped with a fully hydraulic TT Headbox-MLT, TT NextPress shoe press technology, a third-generation design TT SYD integrated with the cogeneration system, and TT BulkyReel for optimal preservation of bulk and softness.

Oppboga Bruk: Inauguration of new production line

Oppboga Bruk AB, producer of multiply paperboard for signs, displays and packaging, recently inaugurated its new KLM3 production line, which is the company’s largest investment in more than 50 years. The bespoke 50-metre-long machine weighing 110 tonnes was installed in just 5 weeks and was up and running at nearly full capacity 2 weeks after startup. Among the invitees that attended the inaugural celebration at Oppboga Bruk were company stakeholders, business representatives and local politicians, as well as employees and their families.

International technology group ANDRITZ has successfully started up a large new pulp mill for Liansheng Pulp & Paper in Zhangzhou, Fujian Province, China. ANDRITZ supplied the complete mill with state-of-the-art technologies for all major process islands.

Valmet to supply an OptiConcept M board making line to Anhui Linping Circular Development, China

Valmet is to supply an OptiConcept M board making line with automation and services to Anhui Linping Circular Development in China. The new board line PM 8 will produce recycled liner grades. The start-up is scheduled for the end of 2025. The order is included in Valmet's orders received of the third quarter 2024. The value of the order will not be disclosed, but such a board making line is typically worth between EUR 40 million and EUR 60 million.

Södra raises wood prices and launches new tool to increase security and transparency

Södra is taking action to strengthen conditions for family forestry and to develop its member offer. On 21 October, prices were raised for saw logs and small-diameter sawable ranges, and a new tool is being introduced to increase security for forest owners. Södra is also taking further steps to improve transparency in the wood market.
