Dear ipw reader,
what is the common denominator between the company Allimand, designer and manufacturer of paper machines since 1850 destined for the world's paper industry, and Loris Baz, a 20 year old rider for the Kawasaki team? Mechanics, right, but not only...! It's also worldwide exposure and it's interesting to observe that more and more companies from this industry - like Allimand Baz' new sponsor - are looking for public attention. High level sports and the constant quest for better and more efficient pulp and paper production seem to be a natural fit. The ability to take risks and to surpass oneself are certainly necessary in both cases. By the way, the Chinese are said to be crazy about motorbiking and to spark the interest of these customers, might even be the main motivation behind this move... +++ IMPORTANT +++ UPM: Closing down PM 3 at Rauma and PM 4 at Ettringen UPM will permanently close down the paper machine 3 at UPM Rauma mill in Finland and the paper machine 4 at Ettringen mill in Germany by the end of the April 2013. The number of employees is reduced by 87 in UPM Rauma mill and by 150 in UPM Ettringen mill. › more |

GL&V: BTF headbox & retrofit start-ups in China
GL&V recently began assembling BTF headboxes and retrofit systems for the Chinese marketplace in China, using critical components manufactured in Canada and other parts manufactured in China by local supplier partners. Metso will supply an OptiConcept M containerboard production line with an extended scope of supply implementation for the Ban Pong mill of Siam Kraft Industry Co., Ltd. in SCG Paper in Ratchaburi, Thailand.
