Susanne Haase Editor-in-chief |
Dear ipw reader,
a drowning man will catch a straw – or so they say. This is what Facebook’s latest app, called “Paper”, makes me think about. In fact, the main disadvantages of social media and the internet in general are that one can easily get drowned in use-, point- and limitless information. Now: With its Paper app, Facebook is offering a service that in fact has been invented more than 350 years ago! Instead of focusing on a single “news feed” filled with posts from other users, the app is designed to be more like a newspaper, with sections that focus on particular news topics or interests, such as technology, sports or food. But: The praised new “lean-back experience” is somewhat diminished by a tiny screen. I am curious to see if the IT giant will eventually find out that it might be a brilliant idea to reinvent paper as well one day… As always, we will keep you posted in any event! Sincerely,PS: If you're interested in advertising in the official Zellcheming Expo daily issues, please contact us at info@ipwonline.de |
