Holmen installs ExtractEye in all mills
Digitalisation and smart handling of data give opportunities for more efficient mills with more stable processes and an even quality. Holmen has therefore bought the latest version of ExtractEye from PulpEye to their mills and is now in the implementation phase. ANDRITZ to deliver DCS checkout and operator training simulator for Klabin’s Puma II project, Brazil
ANDRITZ Brasil Ltda., part of international technology Group ANDRITZ, has received an order to supply dynamic simulation solutions for Klabin’s Puma II pulp mill project in Ortigueira, Paraná, Brazil. ANDRITZ Automation will be responsible for development of the dynamic simulation models, DCS checkout (DCS logic test and validation) and operator training simulator (OTS). ANDRITZ’s proprietary simulation tool IDEAS™ will be used to model the recovery boiler #2 and power boiler #2 supplied by ANDRITZ and the evaporator #2 supplied by another vendor. › more |

Valmet will supply the final stage of its four-stage forming section rebuild to Stora Enso’s Skoghall Mill in Sweden. The target of Valmet’s four-stage development project is to further improve production capabilities of the Stora Enso Skoghall Mill forming section. The latest order is included in Valmet's orders received of the first quarter 2020. The value of the order will not be disclosed. › more |

ANDRITZ launches the new tissue machine PrimeLineVRT – Vertical CrescentFormer – for dry crepe tissue
International technology Group ANDRITZ has officially launched its new PrimeLineVRT – Vertical CrescentFormer – tissue machine for the production of dry crepe tissue. The PrimeLineVRT features a vertical CrescentFormer in the forming section that enhances dewatering of the fiber web. This enables higher dryness right after the press section and an increase in paper caliper. Depending on the grade and basis weight of the paper produced, between two and four additional percentage points of dryness can be achieved after the press section compared to standard CrescentFormer configurations. › more |

ABB launches new Optical Consistency Transmitter sensors to improve retention measurement
ABB has launched its KPM KC9 Optical Consistency Transmitter family, a new range of sensors that provide accurate measurement of total and/or ash consistency for better wet end measurement and control in pulp and paper processes. The sensors are suitable for pulp, paper, board and tissue manufacturers using virgin or recycled raw materials, particularly those using ash fillers, where only optical sensors are effective to measure ash consistency. › more |

BASF wants to promote more women in leadership positions
By 2030, BASF wants to increase the proportion of women in leadership positions to 30 percent worldwide. At the end of 2019, the proportion of female managers was 23.0 percent (2018: 21.7 percent). In 2015, BASF had set itself the target of increasing the proportion of women in leadership roles to 22 to 24 percent as of 2021, which it achieved ahead of schedule at the end of 2019. › more |

Toscotec to rebuild PM4 at Papeterie Le Bourray’s mill, France
Papeterie Le Bourray selected Toscotec to rebuild its PM4 tissue machine at Saint-Mars-la-Brière, near Le Mans, France. The start-up is scheduled for mid-2020. The rebuild scope includes the modification of the existing Approach Flow System with a new fan pump and a fully hydraulic TT Headbox designed to operate in Tisco Former configuration, but capable of being upgraded into Crescent Former configuration in the future. Toscotec will provide full beginning to end support consisting of the detailed engineering, dismantling of the existing components, and installation of new components, commissioning, start-up supervision, and training. The estimated overall shutdown time will be less than a week. › more |

Valmet to deliver Defibrator system to Guangxi Shangsi Hualin in China
Valmet will supply a Defibrator system to Guangxi Shangsi Hualin Forestry Industry Co., Ltd. in China. The start-up of the system is planned for the middle of 2020. The order was included in Valmet’s orders received of the fourth quarter 2019. The value of the order will not be disclosed. An order with this scope of supply is usually valued in the range of EUR 2-5 million. › more |

Decreasing profitability combined with further cost increases makes a 5-8% price increase in all Sappi’s European markets unavoidable.
