Tissue World, which has always been the sector's reference trade fair, is ready to welcome all the protagonists of such a specialized and constantly evolving supply chain as the Tissue one: from paper manufacturers, converting, packaging and stock preparation machinery, to chemical solutions and OEM manufacturers of sanitary products, all the most important players in the sector will be present to see first-hand the latest developments in the industry. The most significant news this year is the strategic location chosen for the event: the trade fair has in fact been moved to Düsseldorf and is scheduled from 28 to 30 March, in one of the world's most renowned exhibition centers.

Mondi has won the coveted PPI Award in the Product Innovation category for its Hug&Hold packaging solution. The Fastmarkets Forest Products PPI Awards are the only global awards dedicated to recognising the achievements of companies, mills and individuals in the pulp and paper sector. Hug&Hold is a paper packaging solution designed and developed to wrap and transport PET beverage bottles, replacing plastic shrink wrap. It is a recyclable 100% paper-based solution, comprising a kraft paper sleeve and a corrugated clip to secure the bottles and offer a comfortable handle for transportation.

The demand for paper products remains significant even in the digital age, with the global pulp and paper industry expected to reach a value of roughly 373 billion U.S. dollars by 2029, according to market analyst Statista. Yet consumer preferences are also changing, with a greater focus on sustainable and socially responsible products. At the same time, manufacturers are increasingly on the lookout for new technologies to streamline production costs without negatively affecting quality.

International technology group Andritz has successfully delivered, installed and commissioned an energy efficient LimeCool system at Stora Enso’s pulp mill located in Imatra, Finland. The start-up took place at the end of 2022. The innovative Andritz LimeCool system is designed to use the heat of the processed hot lime in the lime kiln. This enables to achieve higher energy efficiency of the white liquor plant and an increase in the production of high-quality lime when compared to conventional separate satellite coolers.

From 14 to 16 March 2023, the corrugated, cardboard and printing community will gather for the 6th edition of CCE International at the Munich Trade Fair Centre in Germany. CCE International is the industry’s first port of call when it comes to sourcing new technologies in corrugated and folding carton production in Europe. The show features a popular series of Open Seminars, complemented by the offerings of the newly integrated InPrint Munich event brand with its high-profile conference programme on industrial printing. CCE International is co-located to ICE Europe.

From 14 to 16 March 2023, industry professionals will gather for the 13th International Converting Exhibition in Munich, Germany. With a total exhibition space of 8,700 square metres net and some 340 exhibitors from 21 countries, this year’s ICE Europe is set to continue its success as the industry’s favourite market place for pioneering innovation and profitable business opportunities. Visitors can also look forward to meeting the new winners of the prestigious ICE Awards and enjoy additional access to CCE International and the popular InPrint Munich conference, co-located just yards away – a unique offering for the converting, paper and print industry and the various markets they serve.

At the end of January, Voith inaugurated its new refurbishment workshop in Karlstad, Sweden, alongside its customers, business partners, employees and media representatives. The new workshop and office space significantly increase capacity for refurbishment services of screw presses and screens in the Karlstad region, Scandinavia, and for all of Europe. It also presents the opportunity to refurbish other equipment, such as rotary valves, vacuum pumps and rolls.

Scandinavian Biogas has awarded AFRY an engineering assignment for their new biogas production plant in Mönsterås, Sweden. AFRY’s assignment includes detail engineering services and special expertise services in process safety, for example. The biogas production plant is expected to be commissioned during the fourth quarter of 2024.
