Mondi and Zwiesel Glas collaborate on premium packaging solutions

Mondi has collaborated with Zwiesel Glas, a Bavarian-based producer of high-quality crystal glassware, to develop bespoke packaging for its ‘Handmade’ collection. The range, known for its craftsmanship and fine design, required packaging that reflects the same standard of quality and precision.

Voith's rebuild measures secure energy savings and efficiency increases in the dry end for Papierfabrik Jass

In March 2024, Voith carried out extensive upgrades to the predryer section and the heat recovery of paper manufacturer Jass' PM 3 at its Fulda site. Since up to two-thirds of the energy consumed during paper production is required in the dryer section, Jass is achieving great savings potential and significantly increased machine availability at the site. The measures implemented during the month-long rebuild now show their effect: The company reports improved runability and energy savings in the dryer section of PM 3, which produces 280,000 tons of paper annually with basis weights of 120 to 140 g/m2.

Andritz bast fiber line commissioned at Ekolution, Sweden

International technology group Andritz has recently commissioned a state-of-the art teXline bast fiber line at the new factory of Ekolution, a pioneer in sustainable building materials, in Malmö, Sweden. The line will expand Ekolution’s production capacity, producing environmentally friendly hemp fibers and nonwoven felts made from industrial hemp. The scope of supply included equipment for hemp decortication and refining, combined with a neXline airlay line for producing the felts.

DS Smith has now confirmed its trust in Voith again by extending their service contract at Kemsley mill, UK, for the entire stock preparation of four production lines for a further three years.

Paper for recycling is still in short supply, the circulation of daily newspapers is falling, and with it the amount of raw material in the paper bins. Valmet to supply modernization of a heating plant for ŠKO-Energo, s.r.o., Czech Republic

Valmet is to supply the modernization of ŠKO-Energo’s heating plant in Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic. The project includes converting the two existing circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boilers from coal to biomass and delivering a new bubbling fluidized bed (BFB) boiler. The order also includes a flue gas cleaning system for the new boiler and modifications to the flue gas cleaning systems of the upgraded boilers. The order is included in Valmet’s orders received of the fourth quarter 2024. The value of the order will not be disclosed.
