After extensive trials and evaluations the company could launch Billerud Flute 220 gsm in September this year. The main reasons why companies are looking for using a strong corrugated board instead of wood are:

• The weight of the box is reduced dramatically which facilitates logistics and handling. It enables freight costs reductions and less impact on the environment.
• The corrugated construction acts as shock absorber for sensitive heavy duty products and thereby reduces the risk of damaging the high value goods.
• Corrugated board is not affected by regulation concerning pest and insects’ damage on wood packaging.
• There are great opportunities to print attractive and decorative graphics on corrugated packaging.

The new grammage will also be able to contribute to lightweight corrugated solutions when replacing double wall or dual arch constructions with single wall solutions.
