The excellence of the paper industry meets at MIAC 2025 in Italy
MIAC, the International Exhibition of the Paper Industry, is the reference event for professionals in the paper industry sector. On 8.9.10 October 2025, the Lucca Exhibition Center in Italy hosts the 31st edition of the event: 250 exhibitors present their cutting-edge technologies, machinery, products, and services dedicated to the production of paper and paperboard and the converting of tissue paper. The city of Lucca in Italy, which has always been home to the MIAC, boasts a unique number of paper mills and tissue converters in Europe and is undoubtedly the point of reference for the paper industry at an international level.
Women, go for it! The technology sector needs more woman engineers
Women have a hard time in the male-dominated technology sector and are taken less seriously. This is a media and societal misrepresentation that urgently needs to be addressed. In a time in which industry faces a shortage of young talent, it is vital that women are not discouraged from pursuing a career in this area. This is the view of Lisa Kagerbauer, an engineer at the pump and dosing specialist Lutz-Jesco in Wertheim, speaking on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
Packaging is the new brand statement
Mondi announced the results of its sixth annual eCommerce trend report “Sustainability and its impact on packaging and online shopping choices”. This comprehensive study examines trends, attitudes and expectations regarding eCommerce and the impact packaging has on the consumer experience. The report presents data from around 6,000 consumers across Czechia, France, Germany, Poland, Sweden and Türkiye, collected via an online survey in October and November 2024. The findings offer eCommerce brands valuable insights on meeting consumer needs, including country-specific results from each of the six markets. The survey was conducted by RetailX, who also co-authored the whitepaper.
Toscotec to participate in EXPOACOTEPAC in Colombia

Workshop “Recyclability of paper & board based packaging”
PTS Papiertechnische Stiftung cordially invites to their workshop “Recyclability of paper & board based packaging” on March 11 and 12, 2025. This online workshop gives the opportunity to get a closer look at different main aspects of recycling and recovered paper. During the two-day course, the workshop covers the legislation and regulations for packaging waste and paper for recycling, the technical aspects of recycling including test methods and also the design to recycle packaging more effectively.

Design for Recycling: INGEDE Symposium Munich / Online
There is no doubt that there is enough paper for the upcoming election! But what will we make paper from in the long term? The INGEDE Symposium in February will address this question. Paper for recycling is still in short supply, the circulation of daily newspapers is falling, and with it the amount of raw material in the paper bins. There is now toilet paper made from cardboard or straw, but these raw materials are not suitable for high-quality recycled paper.

Developing paper sack circularity in the construction sector
Eurosac and Cepi Eurokraft recently joined the Paper Sacks Go Circular Spain alliance. The alliance unites about 50 European companies from the whole value chain. They share the common interest to promote efficient industrial waste management and achieve a circular economy in recycling paper sacks and other construction waste. Among others, they have established a well-functioning process for the collection and recycling of paper sacks.
